A Photo Tour of Death Valley - Page 1
We heard that the wild flowers in Death Valley were exceptional this year, due to increased rainfall, so we decided to drive over and take a look. We drove a loop around Death Valley National Park, and drove through places like Furnace Creek the Badwater Basin.
There are about 1000 varieties of wild flowers native to Death Valley (Of course they aren't all found in one place). Here is an excellent web site that shows pictures of many of them and gives detailed information on all of Death Valley.
During dry seasons the seeds remain dormant in the ground. Some years hardly any bloom. This year the flowers are exceptionally heavy. In fact, none of the locals can remember ever seeing this many.
An abandoned Borax mill. (R) Yellow flowers seemed to be the most predominate, but there were many other colors. The narrow road, with no shoulder in many places, prohibited us from stopping and taking more pictures.
