Celebrate Christmas?

I celebrated Christmas last Easter, and the Feast of Pentecost last Christmas. I expect to celebrate all three holidays tomorrow, as well as on December 25th.When I read the text below it confirms what I know in my heart. Jesus was born to die, that I might live. I observe His birth daily, along with His death and resurrection. Because I have exercised faith in Him, in His essential Deity, and in what He accomplished in His earthly life, He has come to live in my heart. I am no longer a slave to sin and this world, I am an heir of God. God has chosen to reveal His Son in me (Gal. 1:15-16). This fact overwhelms me. I am totally unworthy, but the fact remains, Christ lives in me.

Galatians 4:4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,
5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.
6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
7 Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

God sent forth His Son, when the time was right to accomplish His purpose. God's Sonwill appear again when the time is right. When he came the first time there were few who were looking for Him. An old man (Simeon) and an old women (Anna) waited daily for Him in the temple. Otherwise life went on as usual. Nobody was thinking much of His coming except perhaps a few dirty shepherds meditating on the ancient prophesies around a campfire.

Just as the prophesies that predicted His birth were fulfilled, there are many prophesies that predict His second coming. You can rest assured that these will also be fulfilled down to the nth detail. Jesus said He would come at a time that we think not. A time when many would say, "My Lord delays His coming;" a time when iniquity would abound and the love of many grow cold.Jesus compared His coming to the days of Noah, people were totally uncaring and unaware, until the flood came. Nobody listened to an eccentric old man, building a boat and preaching a coming flood.

Because of the failure of some writers who tried to set a date for the Lord's return, it seems that there is a lessened expectation His coming. The apostle Peter told of a time when the religious establishment would make merchandise of men (II Peter 2:3) and Paul told us they would preach that gain is godliness (I Tim.6:5). You don't have to look very far to see these attitudes developing.

I do not have to put my feet in concrete concerning any theory of His return. The essence of Jesus discourse in Matthew 24 is that it doesn't matter if He comes in the first, second, or third watch(pre-trib, mid trib, post trib?) , the important fact is that He is coming. The servant who is watching waiting and working will receive a reward. The servant who is no longer looking for His return and who allows himself to be corrupted by the world will be banished to darkness.

So, in the meantime , I'll enjoy the Christmas celebrations, the good food and the gifts, but the celebration will continually daily. As I remember His first coming, I am looking for His second.I long to see Him and I long to be changed to be like Him and to be with Him eternally.

Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
