The life of Christ, from His baptism to His ascension, following the Harmony of the Gospels.

90: The Tour in Galilee - Luke 8:1-3

Luke 1:1 And it came to pass afterward, that he went throughout every city and village, preaching and shewing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God: and the twelve were with him,
2 And certain women, which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils,
3 And Joanna the wife of Chuza Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many others, which ministered unto him of their substance.

Jesus began this second tour on a greater scale. The twelve had left home and business behind. They are now in the school of the Master. They proceeded on an organized tour of Galilee, preaching and showing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God.

Women whom Jesus had healed and delivered from evil spirits and infirmities financed the ministry from their own substance.

Conclusion and Application:

They not only preached the kingdom of God, they demonstrated it. The Creator was walking among His people. Evil spirits could not stand before Him, sickness and disease had to flee at His touch and the sound of His voice. When we preach the word of the Kingdom under the anointing of the Holy Ghost, God will confirm it by the demonstration of His Spirit (Mark 16:20).

91: The Dumb Demoniac Healed - Mt. 12:22; Luke 11:14

Matthew 12:22 Then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw.

A man was brought to Jesus who was possessed of the devil. He could neither speak or see. I believe it is safe to assume the blindness and deafness resulted from His possession. Jesus cast out the devil and healed the man, which led to a confrontation with the ever present scribes and Pharisees.

Conclusion and Application:

We cannot say that all blindness, deafness and infirmity is caused by sin or evil spirits, but in some cases it may be. Remember the man at the pool was told to quit sinning lest some worst thing come upon him. In John 9:2-3, Jesus told his disciples that a man's blindness was not the result of his or his parent's sin. He was born blind so that the works of God could be manifested in him. Obviously, before jumping to conclusions concerning any individual case, the gift of discernment of spirits (1 Corinthians 12:10 ) should be exercised.

Not Yet Decided

God Cares About the Little Things

My daughter has been having a lot of trouble with her swimming pool system. After spending a considerable sum of money, the pump still would not get up to prime and the water was getting pretty dank.

As she was trying to prime the pump, she called her 4 year old nephew over and said, "Zebby we have to pray." Her prayer was something on the order of, "Lord I'm not worthy to ask, but you know I don't have the money to spend on this pool. Also, please demonstrate to Zebby that you are hearing our prayer."

While she was still praying, Zebby spoke up and said, "Look aunt Toni, Your clock (pressure gauge) is starting to run!"

Isaiah 65:24  And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.

I believe this is a lesson that Zebby will never forget!
