2nd in a 4 part series on the prophecies of Jesus:
Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Luke 2:14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
Acts 10:36 The word which [God] sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:)
Isaiah painted a clear picture of Jesus as God manifested in the flesh, coming to us as the Prince of Peace. Every year at Christmas time the question is asked, "Where is the peace that was promised?"
The United States and many other countries are on the brink of entering into a war that many secular people in high places concede could lead us into World War III. Most Christian people would be more apt to say Armageddon. I believe the latter is right. We are seeing many things being played out that Jesus described in Matthew 24. He told us in Luke 21:25 that there would be "distress of nations with perplexity." So once again we ask, "Where is the promised peace?" We all know the answer, don't we?
Jesus rode into Jerusalem just prior to His crucifixion, fulfilling the prophesy of Zechariah 9:9. The multitude acknowledged Him as the King who had come in the name of the Lord and shouted, "Peace in heaven and glory in the highest." Of course a week later, they were shouting, "Crucify Him" (Luke 23:21). Obviously they missed their opportunity for eternal peace.
He is the peace maker for all who have confessed Him. He purchased our peace by the blood of His cross (Ephesians 2:15 - 17; Colossi ans 1:20). He will be our peace in any coming conflict. He is and will continue to be our, "hiding place from the wind, and a covert from the tempest" Isaiah 32:2. He left us His peace and told us not to be troubled or afraid.
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
Many prophetical events are yet to be played out. I have His peace and assurance now, but I'm looking forward to the day that all the world acknowledges Him as the Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 11:6 The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.
Isaiah 11:7 And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.
Isaiah 11:8 And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice' den.
Isaiah 11:9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.
Psalms 72:7 In his days shall the righteous flourish; and abundance of peace so long as the moon endureth.
Psalms 85:10 Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed [each other].

John prepared a pasta dish for a dinner party he was giving. In his haste, however, he forgot to refrigerate the spaghetti sauce, and it sat on the counter all day. He was worried about spoilage, but it was too late to cook up another batch. He called the local Poison Control Center and voiced his concern. They advised him to boil the sauce again.
That night, the phone rang during dinner, and a guest volunteered to answer it. John's face dropped as the guest called out, . . ."It's the Poison Control Center. They want to know how the spaghetti sauce
turned out."

Abraham Lincoln said he had noticed that people who had few vices didn't have many virtues either. I hope we prove him wrong.
