1 Chronicles 16:34 O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.
Psalms 105:1 ¶ O give thanks unto the LORD; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people.
1st of 3 parts on thankfulness:
We thank God for Who He is, what He has done and what He has promised to do.
Who is He?
He knew us before the worlds were created (Romans 8:29-31).
He saw us as redeemed, completed and recreated in His image (Isaiah 43;1; Psalms 139:14-15; Ephesians 1:11).
Before He ever said, "Let there be light," our names was written in the Lamb's book of life (Revelation 17:8).
We can be thankful that we have a relationship with the High and Lofty One (Isaiah 57:17) who condescended to us and walked among us. He took our sins and bore our burdens. He saw us, He loved us, and He redeemed us, however unworthy.
He knows us by name. He is ever listening for our faintest cry (Isaiah 40:29; Psalms 34:17). Yes, we have much to be thankful for.

Humor
It was Palm Sunday and, because of a sore throat, five-year-old
Johnny stayed home from church with a sitter. When the family returned
home, they were carrying several palm branches. The boy asked what they
were for.
"People held them over Jesus' head as he walked by," his older
brother explained. "Wouldn't you know it," the boy fumed. "The one Sunday I
don't go, He showed up!" (Thanks to Donetta Boyd)
