About-Him Devotional 10-26-2002

Revelation 1:7  Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.
Matthew 24:44  Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
Matthew 25:13  Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

I was a boy during World War II. Perhaps, because of the unspeakable horror of that war and the millions that were slaughtered world wide, the coming of the Lord was preached with a fervor that has long since diminished.

After the war there was an intense interest in biblical prophesy with heavy emphasis on the Lord's coming. We saw many books written prior to the  fall of the Berlin wall and the breakup of the Soviet Union. They seem to have missed the mark badly. I picked up a lot of books at a bargain price, after the wall came down.

We 've seen ministries  whose whole basis was to set dates and name the anti Christ . They've had to keep changing their timeline and hunt for new candidates for the office of anti Christ , just to stay in business.

I believe that this has caused many to forget the Lord's promise of return. I seldom hear it preached anymore.

2 Peter 3:4  And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.

Jesus told us He would come in an hour that we think not. He compared His coming to the days of Noah, when the flood came suddenly and destroyed life on the earth (Matthew 24:37-44).

Luke 12:40  Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not.

His coming may not fit into my endtime scenario, but He's coming nevertheless.  Jesus said that we knew not the day or the hour, and yet some endtime schemes are so precise, that when  a particular event takes place, you would be able to almost pinpoint the day and hour.

My personal view is that the Lord is coming after an anti Christ has been revealed (2 Thessalonians 2:3)and a new temple is built in Jerusalem (Matthew 24:15 ; Daniel 9:27). Like I said above, this almost names the day and the hour.  Endtime theology has divided the church from the very beginning. Obviously somebody is wrong. I need to consider the fact that it may be me!

I believe that we need to put more effort into looking for His coming, rather than the signs of His coming.

Hebrews 9:28 .... unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

Another new Song: I'll  Be Satisfied . I believe you will enjoy it.

We now have 19 hymns and 5 songs of our own composition recorded.

Regarding the new song mentioned above: I recorded this with Marie and my granddaughters who said they would call themselves the Ditzy Chicks. I told them, "Maybe we should  it Grandpa and the Ditzy Chicks.

A woman meant to call a record store but dialed the wrong number and got a private home instead.

"Do you have 'Eyes of Blue' and 'A Love Supreme'?" she asked.

"Well, no," answered the puzzled homeowner.  But I have got a wife and
eleven children."

"Is that a record?" she inquired.

"I don't think so," replied the man, "but it's as close as I want to get."

Quote
The devil doesn't mind your commitments, as long as you don't  put them
into practice.
