About-Him Devotional 10-27-01
Matthew 5:13 Ye are the salt
of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be
salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be
trodden under foot of men.
14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. 15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. We are salt and we are light. We
have been filled with the Spirit of Almighty God and we have a mission to
fulfill. It doesn't take a lot of salt to season our food, neither do
Christians have to be in the majority to affect the course of
current events. One positive result of the tragic events of
September 11 is that Christians are spending more time on their knees.
When we pray, "Thy kingdom come,
thy will be done, " as Jesus instructed us to pray, heaven is listening. We can
rest assurred that God's agenda will supercede that of even the most powerful
nations on earth. No terrorist or nation that is oppossed to the Almighty
God manifested in the Lord Jesus Christ will ever succeed. When we pray for our
leaders (I Timothy 2:1-2), we can rest assured that God hears and is ready to
touch the heart of any leader who will respond to Him.
Our neighbors are looking for
light and you can be certain, they are watching you. Somebody has said, "You are
the only bible some people will read." The apostle Paul said we were epistles,
known and read of all men (II Corinthians 3:2). People are looking for hope
and they are looking at you and to you. The apostle Peter said that we must ever
be ready to give an answer to anyone who inquires about the hope that is
in us (1 Peter 3:15 ).
May we all examine the
effectiveness of our "salt." May we also trim our lamps and let them burn
brightly in the midst of sinful people and nations (Philippians
2:15 -16).

A one-dollar bill ended up in a
wallet with a 20-dollar bill he hadn't seen for a long time.
"Hey," said the one-dollar, "What's been happening?" "Oh," said the 20-dollar, " I went on a cruise, then to a casino and a racetrack, a few night clubs and hotels, all of the malls. How about you?" "Kinda routine," said the one-dollar: "church, church, church ... " Keep Looking Up! Don & Marie Spooner About Him!
