About-Him Devotional 10-20-01
Daniel 11:32 And such as do
wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people
that do know their God shall be strong, and do
exploits.
33 And they that understand among
the people shall instruct many: yet they shall fall by the sword, and by flame,
by captivity, and by spoil, many days.
In Daniel 11, the angel Gabriel
narrates future events so vividly, that many have declared the book of Daniel to
have been written, "After the fact." Gabriel portrays world government from
Babylon (See: Between the Testaments
http://about-him.com/page17.html ) until the time
of the anti-christ at the end of the age.
Gabriel describes
difficulties that will face God's people and declares that the appointed
time of the end has not yet been reached. The end is still at an appointed
time in the future (Daniel 11:35). I don't know where we are on the
time-line that Gabriel laid out, but I do know that the appointed time is
getting closer all the time.
Our Las Vegas TV news did a
spot on a local bible book store. Their sales have gone up 25% since September
11th. They mentioned that a large percentage of the increase was from unchurched
people, looking for answers. Now is the time for those who know Jesus
to rise to the challenge and be instructors in the ways of the Lord
(Daniel 11:32-33) and to exhort one another as we see the day approaching (Luke
21:28; Hebrews 10:25).

When the store manager returned
from lunch, he noticed his clerk's hand was bandaged, but before he could ask
about the bandage, the clerk had some very good news for him.
"Guess what, sir?" the clerk said. "I finally sold that terrible, ugly suit we've had so long!" "Do you mean that repulsive pink-and-blue double-breasted thing!" the manager asked. "That's the one!" "That's great!" the manager cried, "I thought we'd never get rid of that monstrosity! That had to be the ugliest suit we've ever had! But tell me, why is your hand bandaged?" "Oh," the clerk replied, "after I sold the guy that suit, his seeing-eye dog bit me." Keep Looking Up! Don & Marie Spooner About Him!
