Jesus had come to a point in His ministry where the crowds had begun to forsake Him because they could not accept His hard teaching.  They were looking for an earthly conquerer to drive out the Romans and He was talking of a kingdom not of this world. As the multitudes were leaving, Jesus asked His disciples if they were leaving also. The words of Peter echo through the ages:

Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. John 6:68

Yes, Jesus and Jesus alone has the words of eternal life. In Him we live, move and have our being. Of Him, through Him and to Him are all things. All thrones, dominions and powers whether visible or invisible were created by and for Him ( Paraphrase of Acts 17:28; Romans 11:36 ; Colossians 1:16 ).

The nations of the world are preparing for war in far off countries.  Our way of life and standard of living will probably change.  We will certainly have further opportunity to weigh the temporal against the eternal , and we will all cry out with Peter, " Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. "

There is a story that is told about a spring training of the New York Yankees during a record-breaking heat wave at their Florida training base. After the day's workout and shower, Yogi was waiting outside the clubhouse for his team-mate Joe DiMaggio. Dressed in white slacks, a cream colored polo shirt and white loafers, Yogi was greeted by a passing female fan.

"Hello, Yogi," she said, "You look mighty cool."

"Thanks," Berra replied, "and you don't look too hot yourself."

Keep Looking Up!
