1 Peter 2:11 Dearly beloved,
I beseech [you] as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war
against the soul;
The apostle Peter pleads with his
readers to consider that they are strangers and pilgrims on this earth and
have fleshly lust that wars against their souls. This scripture paints a mental
picture to me of a soldier passing through enemy territory with shells bursting
and mines exploding. Just as all seems calm and he seeks to rest, a sniper fires
from ambush. There is no rest! Our spiritual warfare will continue until we
leave the hostile territory of this world and are at rest with
Jesus.
We used to sing the song, This world is Not
My Home, I'm Just a Passing Through. How easy we forget. How easy it
is:
May we ever be mindful that
we are in transit to that heavenly city. Our goal is to see Jesus and be at
eternal rest with Him.

I had to explain this joke
to Marie. See if you get it.
Two social workers find an
injured man lying in an alley. The poor man had been mugged and
beaten.
One social worker turns to the other and says, "You know the person that did this really needs help." Keep Looking Up! Don & Marie Spooner About Him! Ministries Your thoughts and Inquiries Contact@about-him.com Subscribe to this devotional? Subscribe@about-him.com
