Philippians 3:10 That
I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his
sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;
12 Not as though I had already
attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may
apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ
Jesus.
13 Brethren, I count not myself to
have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things
which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are
before,
14 I press toward the mark for the
prize of the high calling of God in Christ
Jesus.
Paul writing
in Philippians 3 recounts his life's accomplishments and then tells
us that he counts all that as refuge, compared to Christ. After seeing the Lord
Jesus face to face on the road to Damascus and being caught up to heaven,he
still says, "That I may know Him." To paraphrase Paul. "I haven't
arrived yet, there is still a higher place to attain and that is what I'm
striving for. There is a prize and there is a higher calling and nothing of this
world will stop me from attaining my goal."
Yes we desire to know
Him in the most intimate degree possible. He's too big for a creed, He's too big
for a catechism, He's too big for church by-laws. He's the God of
all creation, who became my Savior. He exceeds all that I've ever been told. We cannot begin to
comprehend Him. We know Him better today than we did yesterday, and we
intend to know Him better tomorrow. As we keep pressing God continually
reveals Himself to us. We still only have a glimmer, He's a pretty big
God!
Ephesians 1:17 That
the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the
spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of
him:
Ephesians 1:18 The
eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope
of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the
saints,

"If you'll make the toast and pour
the juice, sweetheart," said Mary, the newlywed bride, "breakfast will be
ready."
"I love the fact that you take really good care of me," said Dave with a smile and added, "By the way, what are we having for breakfast?" Mary replied, "I told you...toast and juice!"
