3rd in a series on the Word of
God.
1 Peter
2:2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may
grow thereby:
A newborn baby is totally
dependent upon his mother and is instinctively drawn to her milk. Nutrients
that are a part of the mother are transferred to the child and the child
naturally grows and develops. Likewise, when we partake of God's word
which reveals His nature, His will, His heart and His emotions, these
things are imparted to us and become a part of our spiritual being (II
Peter 1:4).
Job had this to say about the word
of God.
Job 23:12 Neither have
I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his
mouth more than my necessary [food].
When Jesus was being tempted by
Satan, He referred him to Deuteronomy 8:3 and told him that the bread of
the word of God is what is necessary for our existence.
Jesus also stated that His words
were spirit and life . He is the living bread which came down from heaven (John
6:51). His words are alive and feed our spirit which will live forever. Our
natural food is relatively unimportant as it only maintains our flesh which will
pass away in a short time.
Matthew 4:4 But he answered
and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word
that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
John
6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the
words that I speak unto you, [they] are spirit, and [they] are
life.

The man walked over to the perfume
counter and told the clerk he'd like a bottle of Channel No. 5 for his wife's
birthday.
"A little surprise, eh?" smiled the clerk. "You bet," answered the customer. "She's expecting a cruise." Keep Looking Up! Don & Marie Spooner About Him! Ministries Your thoughts and Inquiries Contact@about-him.com Subscribe to this devotional? Subscribe@about-him.com
