About-Him.Com Devotional 06-01-2002

1st in a series on the Word of God.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Psalms 119:89  For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.

I believe that the first thing to consider concerning God's Word is that it is an intragral part of His being. God's word reflects His will, His emotions, His heart and His mind. God's word is eternal, from eternity past to eternity future (Psalms 119:160). It is absolute and unchanging (Matthew 5:18; 24:35).
The Word robed Himself in flesh and walked among men, revealing His very Deity in a covering of humanity. He  demonstrated by a sinless life,  what He desired us to obtain. He shed His blood for our cleansing and imparted His Spirit to enable us  to walk before Him in the holiness and righteousness that His word demands.

John 1:14  And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

In eternity past, Calvary was an accomplished fact. Jesus was and is  the Lamb slain before the foundations of the world. God saw you and no doubt spoke your name as He wrote it in the Lamb's book of life.

1 Peter 1:20  Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,

Ephesians 1:4  According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

When I read God's holy written word, I am seeing the very heart and soul of the Living Word who accomplished my salvation and who is waiting to receive me at His throne (Revelation 13:8).

The traffic cop stopped the woman. "Here's my driver's license and picture," she said.

"You know something," replied the cop. "This is one of the finest, most realistic pictures I've ever seen. I'm glad to see you aren't one of those vain women who have the photos retouched to remove all the lines in their face."

"Sir!" she replied, "you are looking at my thumb print."

Keep Looking Up!
