Jonh 21:17 He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.

Peter had denied the Lord and had been restored. Jesus asked him three times, "Peter, do you love me?"  No longer arrogant and boisterious as before, Peter affirmed his love for the Master, "Lord, you know I love you." Jesus simply replied that Peter was to feed His sheep. I'm sure Peter was thinking of this admonition many years later, when he wrote to the church elders in various cities.

1 Peter 5:2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;
1 Peter 5:4  And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.

Jesus, the Chief Shepherd, set the example for all of us. He came to seek and save the lost (Luke 19:10).  He left the ninety nine and went searching for the one lost sheep, and then laid down His life for that sheep (John 10:11; I John 3:16). He, the Lord and Master, knelt down before His arrogant disciples and washed their feet. This job was usually done by a slave, but Jesus said that we should do the same for each other (John 13:14).

It's not in the saying, it's in the doing (I John 3:18).  It's not in the receiving, it's in the giving (Acts 20:35).  It's not in maintaining status and position here, that will be determined over there (Matthew 19:13). People are hurting all around. They are looking for someone to genuinely care and give of themselves, without looking for something in return (Luke 6:32-34). They are sheep and they need to be tended and fed. It is not the responsibilty of the  ministry alone, the responsibilty falls on each and every one of us.

John 13:35  By this shall all [men] know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

  Matthew 25:40  And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

Humor

A Swiss guy visiting Sydney, Australia, pulls up at a bus stop where two locals are waiting.  "Entschuldigung, koennen Sie Deutsch sprechen?" he asks. The two Aussies just stare at him.

"Excusez-moi, parlez vous Francais?" he tries. The two continue to stare. "Parlare Italiano?" No response. "Hablan ustedes Espanol?" Still nothing.

The Swiss guy drives off, extremely disgusted. The first Aussie turns to the second and says, "Y'know, maybe we should learn a foreign language."

"Why?" says the other. "That guy knew four languages, and it didn't do him any good."
