Revelation 5:9 And they sung
a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals
thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of
every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;
Revelation 7:9 After this I
beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations,
and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the
Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;
What a
gathering that will be, a great multitude, which no man could
number, at the throne of God. There will be people of every
nation and ethic variation. I doubt that they all sang from the same
hymn book or shared the same theology while on earth. One thing they all
will have in common is that they were washed and redeemed by the blood of
Jesus.
The song they will sing in heaven
is that Jesus and Jesus alone is worthy. The blood that he shed at Calvary is
the covering that will allow them to stand before a majestic
and awesome God. Any goodness that they possessed on earth was
simply his life flowing forth from them. Any works that they accomplished
glorified Him.
I plan to be part of this group,
not because I am anything, but because He is everything. I have been justified
(declared not guilty) by the grace of God because I have placed my faith in the
shed blood of Jesus (Romans 3:24-26). I have no goodness in and of myself
(Romans 7:18), but because of Jesus, I can claim God's righteousness, I have
been made the righteousness of God in Him (2 Corinthians 5:21). I wasn't
saved because of any great works that I've done. I was saved by His grace and
mercy (Ephesians 2:8; Titus 3:5).
No, I'm not
much, but I plan to be in this group at the throne singing, for all I'm
worth, the song of the redeemed. I hope you join me. See you
there?

A little boy forgot his lines in a
Sunday School presentation. His mother, sitting in the front row to prompt
him, gestured and formed the words silently with her lips, but it didn't
help. Her son's memory was blank.
Finally she leaned forward and whispered the cue, "I am the light of the world." The child beamed and with great feeling and a loud, clear voice said, "My mother is the light of the world."
