2nd in a series
on Light:
1 John 1:5 ¶ This then is the
message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and
in him is no darkness at all.
God
is light, and in him is no darkness at all. It's been a few
years (quite a few), but I learned in school that light is energy and that
energy cannot be created or destroyed. Likewise I learned that darkness is
simply the absence of light. When I hit the light switch in my home I do not
create light, I simply access it. If I have a proper connection and have paid
my bill, the bulb will burn when I hit the switch. When I darken my home
at night, all I have to do is remove the light.
Matthew 5:14
14 Ye are the light of the world. A
city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel,
but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the
house.
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your
good works, and glorify your Father which is in
heaven.
The believer is a reflector of the
True, Eternal, Absolute and Perfect source of Light, that is Christ Jesus
(Isaiah 9:2; John 1:4, 9, 8:12; 12:46). Let us strive to remove anything
that obscures God's light from shinning to it's brightest possible potential in
our lives. The world is
looking to us. Let's let it shine!
