II Corinthians 5:18 And all
things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath
given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
2nd in a series on II
Corinthians 5:17-21
After becoming a new creation in
Christ (v 17) , and having been reconciled to God by His sacrifice on the
cross, it is the duty and ministry of each of us to help others in
being reconciled to God.
All
things are of God: - All things were created by Him, for His
glory and purpose. When we recognize His rule and authority, we realize that
everything is of, for and by Him. There is no good thing that is not ordained by
Him ( John 3:27; I Corinthians 1:30, 8:6; Colossians 1:16-17; James
1:17).
who
hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ: - Reconciliation
usually involves mediation of a dispute between parties. In the
case of reconciliation between us and God, it is the case of we
as offenders being reconciled to a just and perfect
God. The unique thing about our
reconciliation to God is that the offended party provided the means of
reconciliation, namely the blood of Jesus (Colossians
1:20).
and
hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation: We preach
that reconciliation begins with recognition of our present sinful condition .
This will bring about repentance, which produces reformation, obedience and
submission to God's word and God's will.
Acts 20:21 Testifying both
to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our
Lord Jesus Christ.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Humor
A lady at work was seen putting a
credit card into her floppy drive and pulling it out very quickly.
When inquired as to what she was
doing, she said she was shopping on the Internet and they kept asking for a
credit card number, so she was using the ATM "thingy".
