Malachi 3: 16 Then they that
feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard
it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the
LORD, and that thought upon his name.
17 And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him. A
book of remembrance was written - Popular thought makes fun of
the concept of God sitting up in heaven with pen and paper putting a
checkmark against your name for every misdeed. We used to sing
"There's An All Seeing Eye Watching You." That song and concept is not
mentioned very much in this time of easy believism and cheap grace. Sorry, but
God is watching and God is keeping a record in His book of
rememberance. He has promised to reward both the good and the evil (Psalms
33:18, 34:15; Proverbs 15:3; I Peter 3:12) . When we speak of His
goodness, he is listening and He is recording. When we as much as give a cup of
water in His name, it goes on the record (Mark 9:41). When we do a good deed to
another, it is written down as though we have done it unto Him (Matthew
25:40).
They
shall be mine - An absolute guarantee from an absolute God. You
have been chosen (Deuteronomy 7:6; Jeremiah 32:38; Psalms
135:4; 1 Peter 2:9). God has put His claim of ownership and seal of
approval upon you because you fear Him, believe Him, obey Him and share His
goodness to all with whom you come in contact. You are His jewel and you will be
spared in the day of His wrath. Most of all, we have the promise of
eternity with Him (Jeremiah 32:38; John 10:28; Matthew 25:34; I John 3:2). It
won't be long, so Keep Looking Up!
Humor
Employed by the
human-development center of a corporation in the midwest, my friend trains
employees in proper dress codes and etiquette.
One day as she was stepping onto the elevator, a man casually dressed in jeans and a golf shirt got on with her. Thinking of her responsibilities, she scolded, "Dressed a little casually today, aren't we?" The man replied, "That's one benefit of owning the company...." Keep Looking Up!
