Luke 2:49 And he said unto
them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's
business?
Even from childhood, Jesus
demonstrated an urgency to be about His Father's business and complete the work
that He had been sent to do. At the age of twelve, when He could have been
playing with the other children as they returned to Galilee, He was found in the
temple discussing the word of God.
John 4:34 Jesus saith unto
them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his
work.
35 Say not ye, There are yet
four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes,
and look on the fields; for they are white already to
harvest.
After ministering to the woman at
the well in Samaria, Jesus' disciples were concerned that He had not eaten.
Jesus showed that His priorty was to work for the kingdom rather than to satisfy
His physical hunger. He was probably standing next to a wheatfield that would
not be ready to harvest for four months. The sinful woman of Samaria was
returning to Jesus with the men of the city, Jesus urged His disciples to
consider that, "The men of the city are your harvest, ready to be
harvested now, not four months later?"
John 9:4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the
night cometh, when no man can work.
We are expected to labor to reap a
harvest for the kingdom. Who is our harvest? Our friends? Our
neighbors? Our co-workers? The time is short, the laborers are few. The harvest
is ripe.

Terri asked her Sunday
School class to draw pictures of their favorite Bible stories. She
was puzzled by Kyle's picture, which showed four people on an airplane, so she
asked him which story it was meant to represent.
"The flight to Egypt," said
Kyle.
"I see ... And that must be Mary,
Joseph, and Baby Jesus," Ms. Terri said. "But who's the fourth
person?"
"Oh, that's Pontius-the Pilot. Keep Looking Up! Don & Marie Spooner About Him! Ministries Your thoughts and Inquiries Contact@about-him.com Subscribe to this devotional? Subscribe@about-him.com Use your refresh button to see more banners --Add these banners to your website
