Him! Devotional 06-30-01
I Peter 1:3 Blessed be
the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant
mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus
Christ from the dead,
4 To an inheritance incorruptible,
and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for
you,
5 Who are kept by the power of God
through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last
time.
An inheritance reserved in heaven
for me? Why me? What did I do to earn or deserve this?
Absolutely nothing, other than to
accept what Jesus did for me at Calvary! (Titus 3:7)
Because I have believed, I have been
reborn, a son of God , thus being an heir of God (Romans 8:17; Galatians 3:29,
4:7).
If I am able to leave my children an
inheritance, I can't be certain it will maintain it's value. Money fails, the
stock market fails, the real estate markets tumble,
etc.etc.
But we can rest assured that
because of the sacrifice of Jesus, we have a "lively hope" of an inheritance
that will never fade away.
Let us rest in this assurance, that
we may be found faithful at His coming.
Matthew 25:21 His lord said
unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful
over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the
joy of thy lord.
