Well, I almost hate to read the morning newspaper or watch the evening news. Here in Las Vegas it seems that we have a police shooting every day. In addition to that children have been apprehended carrying guns and ammunition to school . We live in Henderson a suburb where in four hours six people from two families were dead from murder and suicide.
II Timothy3:1 ¶ This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. Recently, a charter school was formed and they were leasing space from a local church. The administrator tried to conform to the law regarding separation of church and state. He was still pressured because the students might possibly catch sight of a cross upon a door of the church. Somebody was sorely afraid that the sight of a symbol on a door might cause a student to ask what it stood for? Hopefully that is the case. We see the apostles warning being fulfilled all around us. Verse 5 has to refer to Christianity because some have a form of godliness that has some power but which the practitioners deny. I can speculate which denomination this might apply to but then I might ask does this possibly apply to me? Jesus spoke of conditions that would be prevalent upon the earth prior to His return. We see the distress of nations as they are faced with perplexity. How do we deal with ISIS or the nuclear bombs of North Korea and the belligerency of China. Luke 21:25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; 26 Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. 27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh. Jesus said that the sea and the waves would be roaring prior to His return. The recent hurricane Florence is larger than others in history and is still showing its effect. No earthly man has the answers to all of these problems but i know a man who does. His name is Jesus. He told us in His Word above that our redemption is drawing near, when he appears in a cloud with power and great glory. Revelation 22:20 ¶ He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
