It is always thrilling to read the story of the angelic host proclaiming the birth of our Savior to humble shepherds. A Savior had been born in Bethlehem. He was Christ the Lord, the eternal self- existent God, clothed in the flesh of a child. He had come for one purpose, to redeem us and to make us worthy to fellowship with Him. As the angels of God worshiped and adored Him they announced that peace had come to the earth.
Luke 2:14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. Many today ask, "Where is the peace that was promised? Every place we look we see war and carnage. Mass shootings, stabbings, bombings and people mowed down in the streets be deranged drivers. ans We see disease and pestilence. Our cities are plagued with murder. Millions in the world don't get enough to eat. Where is the peace? These questions are usually asked by those who reject the gospel. If Jesus had been accepted as the Prince of Peace, we wouldn't be hearing of these evil things. But He wasn't accepted and He had to hang on Calvary's tree to purchase our peace with God. And that my friend is the only peace that we'll ever have in this evil world. The believer possesses a peace that the world cannot comprehend. It is a peace that passes understanding and which keeps us in these troubled times. Our minds are centered on the fact that the Savior who was born as a baby went to the cross bearing our sin. Because of Him we have the right and privilege to come boldly to His throne (Heb. 4:16). That's peace my friend. Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Our fears have been replaced by His peace. The world doesn't have it and they don't understand it, but I believe they can recognize it on the face of the believer (I Peter 3:15). John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. We are not immune from problems and troubles. Jesus said that we would have them. Our faith and the peace that He gives causes us to look to Him for the solution to every problem that arises. John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. When the storms of life rise up and test our faith we look to the One who stood up in the boat and rebuked the wave and the wind. Having problems? He'll do the same for you. Mark 4:39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. Why do we have peace? Because of our faith in who Jesus is and what He did for us on the cross of Calvary, we have peace with God. Romans 5:1 ¶ Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: We have staked our eternal destiny on the simple fact that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. That's us folks (I Timothy 1;15). Jesus became our peace (Ephesians 2:14), He gave us peace and reconciled us to Himself through the blood of His cross . Colossians 1:20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, [I say], whether [they be] things in earth, or things in heaven. Because of Jesus our Savior, we abound in hope through His indwelling Spirit. Yes, we are grieved at the wars, hunger, violence other and miseries of the world. We do not turn a blind eye. Our hope is that men and women will hear and obey the gospel and receive the peace of God for themselves. Our intention is to always be an ambassador of peace, by the peace of the Holy Ghost (Galatians 5:22) Romans 15:13 ¶ Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost. Jesus came to bring peace and His peace was rejected by the world as a whole. His kingdom is being built by individual believers who realize His purpose and have cried out to Him for salvation. His purpose is succeeding and will continue to succeed. May we ever look to Jesus, our God, our Father and our Prince of peace. Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. 7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.
