Behold the Bridegroom Cometh!
Matthew 25:1 ¶ Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.

In Matthew 25:1-13, Jesus gave us the a parable that applies to His second coming, that we need to take to heart today. Ten virgins were assigned the task of escorting a bridegroom from a wedding party to meet his bride for the wedding ceremony. The virgins didn't know how long the wedding feast would last but they told to listen for the call, "Behold the Bridegroom Cometh go out to meet him." Unfortunately the party lasted too long and the flame in these young ladies lamp began to flicker and go out.

When they heard the call, they awoke and began to trim their lamps. Five of the virgins realized that they did not bring sufficient oil to keep their lamps burning. The other virgins refused to share their oil lest they not have enough themselves. While the foolish virgins went to buy oil the call came for them to come and escort the bridegroom to the wedding.

So, the virgins represent purity and oil is a type of the Holy Spirit. I have to ask myself, just how pure am I and how much oil of the Holy Ghost do I have in my vessel? How affected am I with the things of this world? Last week it was the Final Four basket tournament and this week it is the Master's Golf Tournament and on and on it goes.

1John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things [that are] in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

We read in Revelation 2:1-7 of the church of Ephesus that Jesus both applauded and condemned. they hated sin and did many good works, yet they had lost their first love. They were urged to remember how far they had fallen and repent or their candlestick would be removed.

How indicative is this to the church world today? How indicative is that of me? How does that apply to you?

One thing we know.No man knows the day or the hour, but Jesus is coming. Those who are pure and filled with the oil of His Spirit will be translated to meet Him in the air. Those who are not ready will face further trouble and judgment. Which will it be?

"You will be hearing of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not frightened, for those things must take place, but that is not yet the end. MT. 24:6- Jesus Christ
