We live near Las Vegas which is in the Mojave desert. It doesn't rain much, but when it does you need an umbrella and every now and then a rowboat. I had occasion to be out quite early in the morning. The sky was full of pitch black clouds. There was a cold hard driving rain and it was difficult to see while driving. When I returned home I was startled to see a full rainbow underneath the black clouds. It was arching over a nearby mountain just to the west of our house. I thought that was quite strange. I then noticed that the end of the rainbow closest to me was brilliant, showing the full color spectrum.
As I looked in awe, I was reminded that the rainbow was a reminder of God's covenant with Noah to not destroy the earth by water again. I then thought of His other covenants that we rely on, such as the new covenant that gives us our new birth. It was reassuring to know that our God doesn't lie, He keeps His word and His promises. I could only stand in awe and give Him praise just for Who and What He is. It was obvious that the sun had to be shining somewhere, but there didn't seem to be much evidence of that in the driving rain. I went into the house, which was dark, and it appeared that I had left the back patio light on. As I looked out to the east, I was totally overwhelmed. There was a brilliant sliver of light on the horizon, just underneath the dark clouds. In the middle of this band of light, the sun was so intense that it hurt my eyes. I stood in awe, totally amazed and gave praise to our God. I realized that no matter how dark the clouds may be, our God is in control. He shows His rainbow as a reminder of His promises and in the darkest of conditions the sun is still there is all of its splendor. We are living in perilous times that the bible predicted. The world economies are on the verge of collapse. Jesus said there would be distress of nations with perplexity, and we are certainly seeing that today. I feel that we are very close to the coming of Jesus and the time of the anti-Christ. However, just as the sun shone in its brilliance above dark clouds, Jesus the Son of God reigns on the throne of heaven with a radiant glory many times brighter than the sun that we can see. I look forward to the time when my body puts on immortality and I will be able to look upon His glory, face to face. May our focus be on Him, He's in control of it all. Somebody Has Said
The Bible is a harp with a thousand strings. Play on one to the exclusion of its relationship to the others, and you will develop discord. Play on all of them, keeping them in their places in the divine scale, and you will hear heavenly music all the time. --William P. White
