Romans 1:16 ¶ For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. Psalms 40:9 I have preached righteousness in the great congregation: lo, I have not refrained my lips, O LORD, thou knowest. I am not ashamed to declare that I am a believer in the gospel of Jesus Christ. The gospel tells me of His birth, His miracles and ministry, His death, burial, resurrection and ascension to heaven. I believe that He is setting on His heavenly throne from which He makes constant intercession for you and me. I believe that the gospel is the power of God. The definition of power that I learned in school is that power is the measure of work performed in a measurable period of time. I believe that the power of God can and does transform a rank sinner instantaneously when they confess that they believe what the scripture tells us about the Lord Jesus Just as electrical current is transformed instantly from one form to another; the gospel can change our vile nature to a nature that reflects the glory of God instantly. Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. 1Corinthians 6:11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God. Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. I believe that the gospel reveals to us the righteousness of God progressively day by day and gives us the desire to be conformed to the likeness of His image. The apostles and saints of the primitive church, some of whom had doubted and denied the Lord Jesus became recipients of the transforming power of the gospel on the day of Pentecost as the Holy Spirit saturated their very beings. They suffered mockery and persecution and death as they traveled to the ends of the known earth preaching the glorious and transforming power of the gospel of Christ.
