Isaiah 32:2 And a man shall be as a hiding-place from the wind, and a covert from the tempest, as streams of water in a dry place, as the shade of a great rock in a weary land. Zechariah 14:9 And Jehovah shall be King over all the earth: in that day shall Jehovah be one, and his name one. Isaiah, Jeremiah and Zechariah saw the incarnation of the mighty Jehovah as a human king, who would establish the kingdom of God on earth. This king would be the root or ancestor of David (Isaiah 11:10; Zechariah 6:12, Jeremiah 33:15) and also his offspring (Revelation 22:16). The Magi certainly understood the prophesies. They came to Jerusalem seeking Him who was to be born King of the Jews (Matthew 2:2). On His triumphal entry into Jerusalem the multitude hailed Him as the King of Israel who had come in the name of the Lord (John 12:13). Since the time that Herod feigned a desire to worship Him (Matthew 2:8), the kings and rulers of the earth have been against Him and have sought to stamp out the mention of His name (Psalms 2:1-6; Acts 4:17,5:28). The characters have changed, but their opposition to God's kingdom has not. His name can't be mentioned in the schoolroom or in many of the halls of government. Currently (2002), a battle is raging in Alabama over the display of His commandments in a courtroom. They have not and will not succeed. The day is at hand that He will reveal Himself as King of Kings and Lord of Lords (I Timothy 6:15; Revelation 19:16). All who are opposed to His rule will cry for the rocks and mountains to fall and hide them from His face (Revelation 6:15-17). However for the believer it is a different matter: Matthew 25:34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: Song: My God, My King and My Redeemer The Son of God became man to enable men to become the sons of God. - — C.
