The Whole Earth is Full of His Glory

Isaiah 6:3  And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.

Last week we took a road trip which ended up at Monterey California. Along the way we saw quite a variety of scenery, which caused us to reflect on the Creator of it all.

Colossians  1:16  For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

Actually, we don’t have to take a road trip to see God’s glory, we need only to open our eyes to that which is all around us.

Isaiah 40:26 Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these [things], that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that [he is] strong in power; not one faileth.

I need only to go outside my house  to see God’s glory.  We are blessed to have several humming birds that frequent our yard. I marvel at them as they flap their wings 75 times per second and visit every colorful bush in the yard. Surely they are an extension of our Creator’s glory?

The various flower bushes in the yard also sing silent praise to our Lord. Every color of the spectrum is displayed and there is no petal that is exactly like another. Some would say this happened by accident, but I don’t think so. Do you?

Luke 12:27 Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

When I take time to look at the mountains that surround our city, I can’t help but stand in awe. They look rather drab and barren at night, but when the morning sun begins to shine, various hues of color began to emerge. These colors change through the day as the sun runs through it’s appointed circuit. That is quite similar to what happens when the Son of God shines His light in our drab and dreary lives. Eh?

When the sun pokes it’s head across our local Sunrise Mountain, we are often treated to an array of color that no artist can duplicate. I am amazed how it appears everyday at a predetermined time. In fact I can go to an almanac to see exactly what time it will rise 10 or 20 years from now. How’s that for precision? We serve a very precise God. He hung the sun, moon and stars in the heavens and they all act according to His predetermined will.  Men can fire a rocket to Venus and know exactly when it will arrive many years from now.

Psalms 57:11  Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: let thy glory be above all the earth.

Psalms 97:6 The heavens declare his righteousness, and all the people see his glory.

Driving up the California coast is an experience that could do nothing but draw us close to our Creator. As we climbed the mountains around Big Sur, we looked down upon the ocean surf crashing against the shore, as it has since the waters were separated from the firmament and the dry land appeared (Gen. 1:9-10), and will continue to do so until this earth passes away. Looking up, we saw the giant Sequoia trees stretching their limbs to heaven in praise of our God. We stopped along the way to watch the Elephant Seals doing their appointed thing among the rocks. They didn’t seem to have a care in the world (Mt. 6:25-31), so why should we?

We stayed at the Del Monte  hotel which is over 100 years old and is now run by the U.S. Navy.  There was a grand piano in the grand foyer. There are a couple of peacocks that are kept as mascots and have full run of the grounds. They also serenaded us every morning. This was rather distracting, but perhaps they weren’t singing  to us? They may have been raising their voice to the one who enjoys a joyful noise? Anyhow, at my urging, Sis. Marie began to play the old song.

Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, there is something about that name.
Master, Saviour, Jesus, like the fragrance after the rain
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, like all heaven and earth proclaim
Kings and kingdoms shall all pass away
But there’s something about that name.

A peacock was just outside parading around and strutting his stuff as only a peacock can do. When the song started, I was amazed to see this bird turn and spread his features in full array. This he continued to do, all the while that the music continued.  While he couldn’t hear the music, he was joining with it and reflecting the glory of his Creator, by his brilliant display.  Coincidence, some would say.

Psalms 72:19  And blessed be his glorious name for ever: and let the whole earth be filled with his glory; Amen, and Amen.

Few men have been privileged like, Moses, Isaiah, Daniel, Ezekiel and John to see The Lord on the throne of heaven and His accompanying glory, but His glory is not confined to heaven. We need only to lift up our eyes and look around us.

As we look, let us look up to the Lord Jesus who created it all. He has given us a taste of His glory here, but it won’t be long until we see Him face to face. We will see Him in all of His glory. What a day that will be!

Numbers 14:21 But [as] truly [as] I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the LORD.

Isaiah 40:5 And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see [it] together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken [it].

Isaiah 64:4 For since the beginning of the world [men] have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, [what] he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him.

For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made... - Romans 1:20
