The Word of Faith

We wrote last week that the Word of God is eternal and is an integral part of His being or person (Jn. 1:1). The Word  is a manifestation of His mind and will.  His spoke the worlds into existence by His Word. Our salvation was assured when the Word took on flesh and walked among us. We beheld Him in the person of Jesus as the Son of God (Jn. 1:14).

The word is an active force in our lives, desiring to make us stand in perfection before God.

2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

The Word of God causes us both to will and to do His good pleasure (Php. 2:13).

Deuteronomy 30:14  But the word is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it.

Our Lord commissioned us to proclaim His word to the very ends of the earth. Some believe and some don't but their eternal destiny depends on how they handle the words that they have heard, which the apostle Paul called, The Word of Faith.

Romans 10:8  But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;

The same Word that spoke the  worlds into existence takes residence in our hearts when we hear the word of faith  and helps us accept and believe the gospel story of the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Romans 10:9  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
11  For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
12 ¶  For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
13  For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Billions on this earth have never heard the Word, even once. And they cannot hear the word without a preacher. Not necessarily a foreign missionary or a pastor behind a pulpit, but every Christian bearing witness to how the gospel message has changed their life.

Romans 10:14  How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

We were all commissioned to be preachers of the word by the Great Commission (Mt. 28:19-20; Mk. 16:15-18).

Romans 10:15  And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

Everybody isn't going to believe us, but that doesn't stop us from proclaiming God's word.

Romans 10:16  But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?

We can take great comfort that when somebody accepts the words that we preach, the word of faith is implanted in their heart and their eternal destiny is assured.

Romans 10:17  So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Somebody Has Said

"God is calling for His church to arise in the hour of crisis. We must invade enemy territory through prayer, and by exercising faith that manifests the peace of God in our lives." - Lydia Chorpening
