Redeeming the Time

Ephesians 5:16  Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

We've recently seen the  heart wrenching scene of 21 Egyptian Christian believers being beheaded simply because they claimed the name of Christ. It was reported that some were heard to cry out, "Jesus Help Me," just prior to being beheaded. We also hear reports of children being crucified for the same reason. Are these just isolated incidents in faraway places or are they precursors of things to come? I believe it is the latter.

Jesus had a lot to say about conditions in the end times:

Matthew 13:12 Now the brother shall betray the brother to death, and the father the son; and children shall rise up against [their] parents, and shall cause them to be put to death.

Luke 21:12 But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute [you], delivering [you] up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name’s sake.

Luke 21:17 And ye shall be hated of all [men] for my name’s sake.

Jonh 16:2 They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.

We don't have to look at the other side of the world to see evil. Murder and mayhem is all around us. This week in my area, a mother was shot by a paranoid teen for no logical reason.

I can wring my hands in despair because of the raging evil around me or I can rest on the apostle Paul's word that where sin abounds, grace abounds to a greater measure (Ro. 5:20).

If we truly believe that this is the end time and that the coming of Jesus is near, it is important for us to, "Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time. Col. 4:5").  If we are sleeping spiritually, we need to heed the words of Ephesians 5:14:  "Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light."

We must always be conscience of the fact that we are sons and daughters of God Almighty, purchased by the blood of Jesus. We are meant to be examples of the believers in every word and deed. The Lord expects us to let the light of the gospel shine forth from our beings for all the evil world to see.

Philippians 2:15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;

1Timothy 4:12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

We are living epistles, God's law has been inscribed upon the tables of our hearts. May our every thought, action or deed magnify and exalt the Christ whose name we bear.

1 Corinthians 3:3 Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.

Song: My God, My King and My Redeemer

Somebody Has Said

"No amusement can be innocent that involves the squandering of precious time, that might be better employed to the glory of God and the good of man. Life is short. Time is precious. We have but one life to live. Much is to be done. The world is in darkness. A world of sinners are to be enlightened and, if possible, saved. We are required to work while the day lasts. Our commission and work require dispatch. No time is to be lost. If our hearts are right, our work is pleasant. If rightly performed, it affords the highest enjoyment and is itself the highest amusement..." ~ Charles Finney
