Well here we are again at the end of another year. We have recently been touched by the angel of death in our family and also our extended family. It does make one think, "When is it my time?"  We will meet Jesus, either by death or by the catching away of the saints. In 2nd  Peter 2:4, the apostle  told us that in the last days scoffers ask, "Where is the promise of His coming. Since the fathers fell asleep all things continue as they were from the creation."  Jesus told us in Matthew 24:44-51 that He would come in a day and hour that we are not looking for Him.  The servant that is doing His bidding will be blessed. But an evil servant who had said, "My Lord delays His coming" and has begun to smite his fellow servants and to eat and drink with the drunken, saw the Lord coming when He didn't expect to see Him. This man was appointed his portion with the hypocrites and would experience weeping and gnashing of teeth.

I pray that we all will be able to focus on the Lord's return in this coming year.  God bless you all and a Happy New Year.

Going on with our series on Ephesians. Ephesians 3:1-13 reiterates much of what is found in chapters 1 and 2 concerning the eternal purpose of God in Christ Jesus. Paul refers to this concept in Chapter 3 as the mystery of Christ. The mystery of Christ is that the gentiles should be fellow heirs and partakers, with the Jews, of all that God gives us in Christ. Because we are partakers of the gospel we are blessed to pursue the unsearchable riches of Christ. This was hidden until Jesus came but now all the vast angelic host marvels at and praises the fact that God has brought His eternal purpose into effect in Christ Jesus our Lord. In whom we have boldness and confidence.

Paul said, "I bow my knee unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ."  He is talking about more than just  a passing "Praise God" or "Thank You Jesus". He is talking of expressing His gratitude on bended knee with deep emotion.

Ephesians 3:14 For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,[c] 15 from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,

The Old Testament saints looked forward for the promise of the  Redeemer but had not received it (Hebrews 11:39). The prophecies make clear that the mystery of Christ is that God would condescend to us in human form (Isaiah 7:14, 9:6;52:6). He did this so that He could provide the required sacrifice to atone for the sins of the world (Hebrews 9:22).  God moved upon a virgin and caused her to conceive and bring fourth His Son into this world who would be known as the Son of God (Luke 1:35). Jesus came to die and redeem us (Galatians 4:4). He ascended to heaven (Ephesians 4:10) and poured out His Spirit upon all flesh (Joel 2:28; Acts 2:4; Acts 2:33). When we think about it we bow our knees also.

Ephesians 3:16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man,
17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love,

The highest honor that you and I can obtain is for Jesus to dwell in our hearts and this is accomplished by faith in Him. When we come to Him and accept and believe His Word, we become partakers of His love. Old things pass away, all things become new. The things we once loved we now hate. As we grow in God we try to comprehend Him. I haven't succeeded yet, but neither had the apostle Paul, (Philippians 3:13) but He's a lot bigger to me than He was in times past. I trust that my comprehension of Him is  bigger tomorrow than it is today.

Ephesians 3:18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height —
19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

The physical world as we know it is composed of three dimensions: width, length and breath. However when we are in Christ we enter a fourth dimension called depth. This, the natural man cannot  comprehend because it is a spiritual dimension. We can only see it by God's Spirit. When Christ dwells in our hearts by His Spirit, our comprehension changes. We see things through spiritual eyes.   There are many explanations, some fanciful, of what this fourth dimension is. I may not have a precise definition, bur then I can't explain electricity either. However, when I flip the switch, I know that the current is flowing. The same with this fourth dimension that the apostle calls the "depth."

Romans 11:33 Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!

When, by faith, I am filled with God's Spirit and Christ dwells in my heart, I am overwhelmed by the love of Christ and am filled with all the fulness of God. It doesn’t get any deeper than that, does it?
