Luke 12:20 But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? We know the story of this rich man, who had lost his perspective. He obviously was aware of Moses and the prophets, but he wasn't concerned about what they had to say, until he felt the flames of hell. He had forgotten: That he was dust and destined to return to dust (Genesis 3:19). Genesis 3:19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou [art], and unto dust shalt thou return. He came into the world naked and would go out the same way. Ecclesiastes 5:15 As he came forth of his mother's womb, naked shall he return to go as he came, and shall take nothing of his labour, which he may carry away in his hand. That when he died, he could carry nothing with him. Psalms 49:17 For when he dieth he shall carry nothing away: his glory shall not descend after him. That his riches won't profit in the day of wrath. Proverbs 11:4 ¶ Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivereth from death. Most of us will never have the riches of this man, but in these times of economic uncertainty, we can still lose our perspective. It's nice, and we should have something laid up for old age, but these will mean nothing when we stand before Christ the righteous. it would be better to go through life as a pauper, than to lose the crown of righteousness that the Lord has laid up for us. 2 Timothy 4:8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. Our Creator loved us so much that He robed Himself in flesh and died for us at Calvary. He has freely given us of His Spirit and made us partakers of His divine nature (2 Peter 1:4). He has told us that He would return at an hour when we think not (Matthew 24:48-51). The gospels talk extensively of the Kingdom of God/heaven, which is our goal and our destiny. As we await the day of His return, our prayer is: Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread (Matthew 6:10-11). Daily living by faith on Christ is what makes the difference between the sickly and the healthy Christian, between the defeated and the victorious saint. - A.W.Pink Free Ebooks That You Can Download.
