By faith Abraham, when he
was called, obeyed by going out to a place which he was to receive for an
inheritance: and he went out, not knowing where he was going (Hebrews
11:8).
Abraham was called by God (Gen.
12) out of a cultured sofisticated society. When he was called, he obeyed. Faith
and obedience are always linked together. God made a covenant with him at this
time which promised Abraham the land and a Redeemer to come from his seed. We,
like Abraham:
Let us follow father Abraham's
example and keep our eye on the promised possession, regardless of present
circumstances.

Someone has said, "If
God is your Copilot - Swap Seats!"
A 4-year-old boy who was asked to return
thanks before Christmas Dinner.
The family members bowed their heads in expectation. He began his prayer, thanking God for all his friends, naming them one by one. Then he thanked God for Mommy, Daddy, brother, sister, Grandma, Grandpa, and all his aunts and uncles. Then he began to thank God for the
food. He gave thanks for the turkey, the dressing, the fruit salad, the
cranberry sauce, the pies, the cakes, even the Cool Whip. Then he paused, and
everyone waited--and waited. After a long silence, the young fellow looked up at
His mother and asked, "If I thank God for the broccoli, won't he know that
I'm lying?"
