Matthew 6:9 ¶ After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Our Lord instructed us to pray for His Kingdom on earth, where His will will be fulfilled just as quickly as it is fulfilled in heaven. The spiritual kingdom has already been established in the hearts of believers (Lu. 17:21). The literal fulfillment of His physical kingdom on earth is yet to be fulfilled (Ps. 132:11). Given the events of the last couple years and especially the last couple of months, it seems that a lot of people are asking, ”What in the world is going on?” First financial meltdowns all across the globe, with the United States narrowly escaping total collapse. Most of the states are broke and unemployment hovers around 10% with no signs of easing up. The housing market has collapsed with people losing their homes right and left. Many are being forced into homelessness. Whether you believe in global warming or not, one has to admit that something extraordinary is happening on a big scale. Torrential rains in Australia and Brazil have left areas the size Texas and New Mexico submerged under flood waters. Snows have been heavy in areas of this country that don’t ordinarily get much snow. The Northeastern states have one storm after another all winter long. So if you ask me, I would say, “Yes indeed, something is happening.” I believe that God is trying to get our attention. To date, Israel has been in the precarious situation of being surrounded by hostile Arab states. This was moderated somewhat by Egypt and Jordan. Egypt has actually been helpful to Israel in combating hostile factions such as Hamas and Hezbollah. Now we are seeing so called spontaneous uprisings in a number of Arab countries that will no doubt leave Israel totally surrounded. One thing that we know is that at some time in the future all nations will come against Israel and God Himself will fight on Israel’s behalf. (Zec. 14:2-3). Ultimately the kingdoms of this world will became the kingdoms of our Lord and His Christ (Rev. 11:15). Luke 21:25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; 26 Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. I believe that the stage is being set for the Kingdom of God to be fully implemented on this earth. Individually we seem powerless and overwhelmed, but together we can pray as our Lord instructed, Thy Kingdom Come!
