By Faith Enoch Was Translated

Hebrews 11:5  By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.
6  But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

During Enoch’s lifetime, men were progressively growing more evil, every generation . This evil culminated in the earth’s destruction during the time of his great grandson Noah (Genesis 6:11-13).  Tradition states that Enoch was disturbed at the things that he saw and spoke out against it. He prophesied of the Lord’s return in judgment (Jude 14). He saw Jesus coming from heaven with ten thousands (myriads) of His saints.

Jude 14  And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,

15 ¶  To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.
Enoch pleased God because he had faith in God. Because he pleased God, he was translated to heaven. He was not found because God took him.

There are many parallels between our time and the time of Enoch. Our society is growing more evil everyday. The apostle Paul warned us in I Timothy of conditions in the last days.

I Timothy 3:1 ¶  This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2  For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3  Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4  Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 5  Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

Do you see anything in the above list that is not prevalent today, and much more prevalent than it was even ten years ago? For example, did you ever think that your children would have to contend with guns and knives when attending school?

We will see Enoch’s prophesy fulfilled. How long can this world continue when nations such as Iran and N. Korea are pursuing nuclear weapons. Not to mention those nations who already possess them. We are certainly seeing the prophesy of Jesus fulfilled that in the last days there would be distress of nations with perplexity (Luke 21:25). However, because of our faith, these things don’t get us down. We can boldly affirm Paul’s statement of Philippians  3:20 that our citizenship is in heaven. As the old song says, "This world is not my home, I'm just a passing through."  We are looking for the Lord Jesus to appear from heaven, just as Enoch prophesied.

In spite of the increasing evil that surrounds us, we, like Enoch can have the testimony that we please God. We please Him by believing and obeying His word and taking His promises at face value.

We like  Enoch will be translated to heaven (I Thessalonians 4:17). Our earthly man may die but we have an absolute promise from an absolute God that we will live forever (John 11:25).

If we have faith in Him,  we will obey Him (John 14:15, 15:10). If we have faith we will believe His promises (Matthew 17:20).

We like Enoch will be ushered into the presence of our Great God and Savior, Jesus Christ (Titus 2:13). We will be totally assured that we have pleased Him when we hear Him say, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant....” (Matthew 25:23).

Hey, maybe we'll have a little chat with Enoch also?

"Give me all the money or you are Geography" said the robber to the cashier.

"Don't you mean history?" queried the cashier.

"Don't change the subject," said the robber.
