About-Him
Devotional 10-21-2000 By Faith Abel offered
to God a better sacrifice than Cain....Hebrews 11:4 NASV
There is much that is
not said in the Genesis account of Cain and Abel. Obviously they had been
instructed on the necessity of sacrifice. Both men gave what was common to their
occupation. However, God respected Abel's sacrifice and rejected that of Cain.
Why? The key is that Abel offered his sacrifice by faith.
Abel's sacrifice
showed that He placed faith in God's promise of a Redeemer (Gen. 3:15). We have
the same opportunity. Even though
Cain failed at this instance, he had the opportunity to learn from Abel's
example of faith and have his next sacrifice
accepted by God (Ge.
4:7). His unwillingness to exercise faith led to his downfall. Let us consider
his example.

This week, all our
phones went dead and I had to call the phone repair people. They promised
to be out between 8a.m.and 7 p.m. When I asked if they could give me
a smaller time window, he asked and I quote, "Would you
like us to call before we come?" He also requested that we report future outages
by email. Does YOUR email work without a telephone
line??????
