http://about-him.com/ having loved his own which were in the world Yes, He loved His own. He came unto His own , but they didn’t receive Him. This opened the door of heaven to any who would believe on His name (John 1:11-12). What a Savior we have! His love didn’t start at His earthly birth but is an integral part of His eternal being (I John 4:8). He was pleased to be made like unto His brethren, that He might be our merciful and faithful High Priest. His purpose was to make reconciliation for our sins (Heb. 2;17). He laid aside His prerogatives and was born on this earth as a humble servant. He willingly consented to death on the cross for our redemption (Isa. 42:1; Php. 2:6-8). During His earthly ministry, Jesus demonstrated His love for all segments of society. He had compassion on the hungry multitude and fed them with a few loaves and fishes (Mt. 14:19). Jesus loved the rich young ruler even though he refused the Master’s invitation to follow Him (Mk. 10:21). Jesus was always aware of the plight of the poor. He praised the poor widow who gave all that she had in the temple offering (Mk. 12:41-44). He had compassion on the widow of Nain, who had lost her only supporting son, and raised him from the dead (Luke 7:11-15). He had a special place in His heart for the children (Mt. 19:14) and stated that unless we become as little children , we will not be able to enter the kingdom of God (Mt. 18:3). Jesus was moved with compassion when he looked on a multitude of people who ambled about as sheep without a shepherd (Mk. 6:34). Another time He looked upon a similar crowd and cried out with an invitation that is still in effect today (Mt. 11:28-30). Matthew 11:28-30 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. he loved them unto the end Jesus was about to eat His last Passover meal with His disciples, including Judas who was about to betray Him and Peter who would soon deny Him. Normally, a servant would be present to wash the feet of the guests as they entered the room. There wasn’t a servant present on this day and nobody was volunteering to do the job. In face as they reclined on couches with their dirty feet, they began to argue as to which one would be the greatest in the kingdom of God (Luke 22:24). It has been said that they had Proud Hearts and Dirty Feet. That condition is still quite prevalent today. J esus took a towel and basin of water and washed the feet of all of them. He then stated that if He as Lord and Master had washed their feet, they should wash the feet of one another. Of course this admonition is for much more than ceremonial foot washing, it is to be an integral part of our daily lives. He that would be chief is to be a servant of all (Mk. 9:35, 10;44). If we exalt ourselves, we will be abased, but if we humble ourselves, we will be exalted (Luke 14:11). The supreme example of the Love of Christ is that He willingly bore our sins on Calvary. Jesus died for us when we were still sinners (Ro. 5:8). We didn’t do anything to earn His forgiveness, He died for us because He loved us. All of us. John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Romans 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Ephesians 3:19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. 1John 3:23 ¶ And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. He loved us in eternity past, He loved us when He went to the cross, and He loves us still, even though we are still most undeserving. He presently acts as our advocate and makes intercession on our behalf (Ro. 8;34; Heb. 7:25). He has promised to return for us so that we may live with Him eternally (John 14:1-3). Keep Looking Up!
