Now,We Are the Sons of God Our last 2 devotionals were on I John 3:1, which can be accessed here . These dealt with the fact that we are sons of God, solely because of the love that He had for us. We had nothing of own merit or worthiness to offer. At our new birth we became new creatures, exchanging our nature of sin for His divine nature. Being sons of God, the world will not recognize us because it didn’t recognize Him, when He walked on the earth. I John 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. Beloved, now are we the sons of God, Galatians 3:26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. Sometimes we get overwhelmed with cares and troubles of life (Mt. 13:22) and forget or neglect just who we are. We are sons of God, right now. We have the assurance of God’s word, that we are His sons and that He has indescribable blessings in store for us. Most of all, we have the promise of seeing Jesus, being changed into His image and spending eternity with Him? When we received and obeyed Him, we were born of God (John 1:12-13). We were given access to the heavenly throne in the time of need (Heb. 4:16). In spite of what others may say, God’s Spirit bears witness with our spirits that we are His Sons, and being His sons, we are led by His Spirit and are automatically His heirs (Ro. 8:16). We even have the privilege of calling the Creator of this universe, “Abba Father” which means “Daddy.” How special is that? Romans 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. 15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: The apostle Paul said that we see through a glass darkly. He was referring to the mirrors of his day that showed a much dimmer image then our mirrors today. A person using such a mirror didn’t get a very good picture of what they were looking at. Undoubtedly they could see their form but had to strain to see their details. 1Corinthians 13:12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. {darkly: Gr. in a riddle} but we know that, when he shall appear, Unfortunately, many in the church have lost sight of the promise of Jesus’ return, preferring to stress the benefits of this present life and ignoring eternity. Considering that 70 or 80 years on this earth is nothing compared to eternity, that is rather foolish. Romans 8:18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time [are] not worthy [to be compared] with the glory which shall be revealed in us. He promised to return and He will, but perhaps not when we expect Him (Mt. 24:44). When He appears, we will see Him in all of His glory. We'll see the same thing that Isaiah and John the Revelator saw. When we look into the face of Jesus, we will see the glory of Eternal God (His own self John 17:5) shining forth from the face of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. John 17:5 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. Colossians 3:4 When Christ, [who is] our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. Our mortal bodies will not be able to stand in his presence. We will changed! We will have a body that will be like His body, one that will never run down and wear out. No more pain, cancer or arthritis, etc. No more dying or crying and most of all, no more death (Rev. 21:4). We will be conformed to the image of Jesus. Philippians 3:21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself. 1Corinthians 15:49 And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. Romans 8:29 ¶ For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. F riend, this world is rocking and reeling and on it’s last legs. It has nothing to offer us except heartache, pain and death. I’m looking for Jesus and I know that you are also.
