The Knowledge of Him Ephesians 1:19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us–ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, In the Old Testament the biggest superlative used to describe the awesomeness of God was the fact that He had rolled back the waters of the Red Sea (Exodus 15:1). This changes in the New Testament to the resurrection of Christ. God raised Jesus from the dead and enthroned Him on the throne of heaven at His own right hand; the right hand designating the place of honor and power. Colossians 1:9; 2:9 tells us that it pleased the Father that all of the fullness of the Deity dwells in Jesus bodily. Ephesians 1:20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, 21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: 22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, 23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all. Jesus has been positioned above all principalities and powers, i.e. the evil hierarchies of hell and any earthly kingdoms that oppose Him, as well of all beings in the heavenly realms. All will bow to the name of Jesus and confess Him as Lord. Philippians 2:9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 1 1 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. All things are under His feet. He is the head of the church which is His body. We are all members of His body and we manifest Him in our every word and action. Hebrew 1:3 tells that Jesus is the express image of God’s person and that He upholds all things by the word of His power. Colossians 1:17 tells us that He is before all things and that by Him all things consist. Have you ever wondered what would happen if Jesus took a break. The very atoms that hold this earth together would instantly disintegrate and the sun and moon would cease to function. So. Do I fully comprehend God? No I don’t. I need the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him. I believe that it was Martin Luther who said that for whatever we would learn of God, we need only to look at Jesus (John 14:9; I John 1:2). We recall that in the early ages, God was largely unapproachable. H e showed His after glory to Moses, but the effect was so great that Moses had to be sheltered in a cave and later wear a veil (Exodus 33:18; II Corinthians 3:7). Any transgression brought instant reprisal or death. God fixed that. He came to us veiled as a man. He walked among His own creation (John 1:30) and reconciled all who were willing to Himself (I Timothy 3:16). This man Christ Jesus, by virtue of His death and resurrection became our Mediator (I Timothy 2:5), our High Priest (Hebrews 4:14) and our Advocate (I John 2:1). We can now approach His throne boldly (Hebrews 4:16). This Jesus is the One whom John saw sitting on the throne (Revelation 4:2). He described Himself as Alpha, Omega, Beginning and Ending, the First and the Last (Revelation 22:13), and The Almighty (Revelation 1:8). After affirming His eternal Deity, He sealed it with the mention of the name above every name, “I Jesus” (Revelation 22:16). Re 22:16 I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, [and] the bright and morning star. No, I don’t comprehend Him. The apostle Paul didn’t either, even though He had been caught up to heaven (II Corinthians 12:1-4) and heard many things that he wasn’t allowed to utter. His cry still was, "That I might know Him" (Philippians 3:10). I believe that is the cry of each and every one of us. The grandmother was curious. "What trick is that?" she asked. "I heard him tell Mommy," the little boy answered, "that he would climb the walls if you came to visit." Keep Looking Up! Don and Marie Spooner About Him!
