About-Him.Com Devotional 05-15-2004
We apologise for being a bit late with this week's abbreviated devotional. But we have good cause. It seems that our children had been conspiring for some time to totally surprise and honor mom and dad on our 50th wedding anniversary They succeeded, - almost (we suspected that something was up - sneaky kids anyhow).
We thought that we were going to supper Friday with our two daughters who live here in Las Vegas. When we got to the restaurant and were being ushered past waiting people, we knew something was up. When we got to the back room of the restaurant, we found quite a group of folks from church, extended family and Marie's work waiting for us. Our son and his family came from MI and our daughter and her fiance from TN. Also a nephew and his wife drove over from L.A.
After a video presentation of old pictures (of when I was young and manly with lots of hair- Marie hasn't changed a bit, except for the better) we were given the option of renewing our vowels, which of course we did.
The big surprise was that our children are sending us on an Alaskan Cruise with the Gaither Homecoming Group.
As soon as I wade through the endless pictures, I'll post some on the website.
As the family gathered at the house yesterday, we realized just how short life is and how blessed we have been. Seems the grandchildren played for hours in the pool. I got very tired, just watching them. However, one day, and it won't be long, I'll have a new body that will last eternally, and we'll have one endless celebration, at the throne. See you there!

The construction foreman ordered one of his men to dig a hole 8 feet deep. But after the job was done, the boss returned and explained an error had been made and the hole wouldn't be needed. "Fill 'er up," he ordered the worker.
The worker did as he'd been told. But he ran into a problem. He couldn't get all the dirt packed back into the hole without leaving a mound on top. He went to the office and explained his problem.
"Honestly!" the foreman snorted. "The kind of help I get these days! There's obviously only one thing to do. You'll have to dig that hole deeper!"
Keep Looking Up!
