Current Topic: Walking in the Spirit

08-01-2000

Upon conversation, we must recognise that we are new creations, His creations.

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Recognising this, we are easily led by the Spirit of God.

Romans 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

08-02-2000

There is a law of the Spirit which is opposite the law of sin.

Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

08-03-2000

At Calvary, Jesus removed the barrier between us and God. We can now fulfill His righteousness.

Romans 8:3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin,condemned sin in the flesh:
4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

08-04-2000

We must walk in the Spirit to maintain life in Christ.

Romans 8:5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

08-05-2000

Our carnal nature is oppossed to God.

Romans 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

We must walk in the Spirit to please God.

8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

08-06-2000

The Spirit filled man does not walk after the flesh.

Romans 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
10 ¶ And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

08-07-2000

Our life or death depends on walking in the Spirit

Romans 8:13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

08-08-2000

The evil man loves darkness

John 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

The spiritual man walks by faith in the righteousness of Christ.

Philippians 3:9 ¶ And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:

08-09-2000

We are new creatures in Christ.

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

We must abide in Christ (in the Spirit) to maintain that relationship.

John 15:4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.

08-10-2000

The spiritual person is patterned after Christ the Creator.

Colossians 3:10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

The spiritual person shares His attributes.

1 Corinthians 1:30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

08-11-2000

The spiritual person makes a conscious effort to put off the works of the flesh.

Colossians 3:8 ¶ But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;

08-12-2000

The spiritual person "puts off" the old nature.

Ephesians 4:22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;

And "puts on" the new man.

Ephesians 4:24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

08-13-2000

The spiritual person lives a sober lifestyle.

Titus 2:11 ¶ For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

The spiritual person is looking for the Lord's return.

Titus 2:13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

08-14-2000

The spiritual person "puts on" the attributes of God.

Colossians 3:12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
14 And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.

08-15-2000

The spiritual person is a praising person.

Ephesians 5:18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

And also a thankful person.

20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

08-16-2000

The spiritual person is a mature person. 1 Corinthians 13:11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

We grow in spiritual maturity in relation to our knowledge of Christ.

Ephesians 4:13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

08-17-2000

The spiritual person prays instead of worrying.

Philippians 4 6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

08-18-2000

The spiritual man thinks positively.

Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
