About His Word! (02-01 to 02-14-2000)
Current Topic: The Mercy of God

I announced in my recent newsletter that the next subject in "About His Word" would be "The Grace of God." I believe it best to first cover "The Mercy of God." Basically we can say, Because of God's everlasting love, He showed us "Mercy" in the gift of His Son at Calvary. The sacrifice of Jesus satified God's demand for justice. When we believe on Jesus, God's "Grace" (unmerited favor and Divine enablement ) is extended to us, to effect our eternal salvation.

God placed the "mercy seat" in the tabernacle. The placing of blood upon the mercy seat pointed to the effects of the atoning Blood of Jesus.

Exodus 25:22 And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubims which are upon the ark of the testimony, of all things which I will give thee in commandment unto the children of Israel.

Exodus 26:34 And thou shalt put the mercy seat upon the ark of the testimony in the most holy place.

Leviticus 4:6 And the priest shall dip his finger in the blood, and sprinkle of the blood seven times before the LORD, before the vail of the sanctuary.

Hebrews 10:10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
